Three Quarter Tank Tips

Tips to improve accuracy
  1. The fuel efficiency reading from car dashboard may no be accurate. You may want to do your own profiling.
  2. Always reset your distance meter to zero after you top up the petrol.
  3. Enter the mileage when the fuel gauge drop to 3/4 tank. This value may vary for every tank due to how full the previous top up was and different traffic condition.
  4. Always check if the petrol unit price has change.
  5. Enter the estimated distance to custom.  It is even better if you check the actual driving distance using Map Apps. If you are making a detour, you need to add in the detour distance.
Factors affecting the accuracy of calculated top up amount
  1. Fuel efficiency may vary according to actual traffic condition.
  2. Fuel gauge is usually very sensitive at 3/4 tank and a small distance travelled may cause it to drop drastically.
  3. Fuel gauge could be sensitive to slope especially when the vehicle is travelling up or down slope.
  4. Unexpected traffic jam on the way to Singapore custom may accelerate the drop of fuel gauge below 3/4 tank.
